Top Tips for a Better Wedding Day | Tip #7

Your wedding day can feel somewhat hectic; there are a lot of things happening, some of them in a relatively short period of time, and the expectations are always staying high.

More from a 'general day-run’ point-of-view, but also from the wedding photography-related point-of-view, the ideas and pointers in our Top Tips for a Better Wedding Day series, would help you - brides, grooms and other wedding planners - to enjoy a better, smoother, wedding day.

Top Tip #7: Let your people go! (and do something)

The people in your wedding party are chosen to be in your wedding party, not just because they are your friends and family, but because they symbolize some of the BEST friendships and relationships that you created throughout the years. All or some of them would be around you most of that day, and would look awesome together with you when your wedding-photographer takes photos of your small or large, sharp-looking group, but it’s ok to also get them to help you; both with preparations for, and even more tasks during – your happy day.

Sometimes you get to see brides or grooms with groups of 2-3-7-10 people around each of them, which in 'moments of need', are just standing/sitting/wandering around. 'Moments of need' can be helping with arranging and decorating a venue, driving around to bring someone, or something that was forgotten behind, finding someone who’s needed for a photo, ‘herding the cats’ (relevant to multiple occasions during a wedding day), grabbing a small glass/cup/bottle of water for the bride to drink outside in the sun, while taking photos with her heavy dress and makeup, etc. Those are normally not big tasks to take care of, and sure you could do most of them by yourself too, but – why not letting your BFFs help you out?

Don’t be afraid of asking them for help! They are there FOR you! Either by delegating a specific person(s) to help out with specific tasks prior to your event’s day, or to just ask them to raise their awareness to such needs/little tasks throughout the day – would take away some of the bride and groom’s hecticness and stress, and would give them (you) a better chance to just enjoy the special moments.
